An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is typically required for any major development that has the potential to adversely affect the “environment”. The goal of an EIA is to prevent significant damage to the environment by examining all of the potential dangers of any large scale development; finding alternatives and setting up strategies to combat adverse affects.
